Big Sound 2010
I took a week off the studio to head to Big Sound here in Brisbane this year. It was great to catch up with some fellow industry folk that I don’t see very often, as well as touch base with some people from overseas who I really admire.
Thanks to those of you who came and had a chat with me – I have a number of demos from bands that I will be listening to over the next week. It’s always nice to hear feedback from artists about my work and I appreciate the effort it takes to come and talk to a stranger.
This year, the focus for me was on the international market. I often work with acts from overseas in my studio and do a lot of production work for artists and bands who I never meet! I chatted with some very cool guys from Japan, Canada, the US and UK, as well as some labels from NZ.
I look forward to keeping in touch with them, and doing some travel in the next 12 months!
It was particularly interesting to hear the varying opinions from people in different territories on the future of music and our industry. I’d strongly recommend that bands/artists get along to this event in 2011!
